  • Meet Amy! Amy is one of our participating artists in Fragments Reimagined , An Art Exhibition, A Call to Action to End Gun Violence @art_is_myweapon_

Please join us to see her work!
Amy Wilderson is a Minnesota-based multi-media visual artist. Her jewelry and sculptures center on metalsmithing and wireworking techniques that transform “forgotten treasures” - orphan earrings, broken heirlooms, vintage glass Mardi Gras beads, and childhood mementos - along with discarded or surplus items (computer elements, bra underwires), and reclaimed metals into meaningful wearable art. She connects these elements with gemstones associated with myth, power, and healing. By reviving these items, Amy explores themes of legacy, memory, cultural heritage, and personal identity.

She has exhibited at Chicago Avenue Fire Arts Center, Solidarity Street Gallery, Fresh Eye Gallery, Black Business Enterprises, ROHO Collective, University of Minnesota Urban Research and Outreach-Engagement Center (UROC), Minnesota African American Heritage Museum and Gallery, Tulane University of New Orleans, Northside Artspace Lofts Gallery, White Bear Center for the Arts, Friedli Gallery, Viewpoint Gallery, and the Minneapolis Institute of Art.
She is the recipient of grants and residencies from COMPAS, Minnesota Humanities Center, CERF+, Minnesota State Arts Board, Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, Midway Contemporary Arts / The Andy Warhol Foundation for Visual Arts, United States Artists, and the Minneapolis Institute of Art.

Amy is the 2025-26 COMPAS Teaching Artist of the Year.
She is a member of the American Craft Council, WHSTL Art Collective, the Black In Jewelry Coalition, and the Society of Inclusive Blacksmiths (SIBs).

Amy earned a BA in communication from Tulane University.
  • My time as the St. Paul Public Library Artist-In-Residence at the Arlington Hills Library's Createch center is coming to a close.

For the past 8 months, it has been a joy to teach middle to high schoolers how to make wirework jewelry and sculptures as a COMPAS Teaching Artist.

My residency will culminate this Friday, April 17th, with a Showcase celebrating the participants' creativity.
